It Works! And was an easy replacement

Watched the video on how to replace a failing cylinder. Received the part promptly and changed it out. All is good now!

Easy to use, gives new life to my chair

This replacement cylinder is easy enough to install once you get the old cylinder out.
Pro tip for removal of the old cylinder: Use a metal hammer as suggested, don't try to finesse it with a rubber/plastic mallet.
The new cylinder sits slightly higher off the ground, which is great. It also keeps the seat height slightly higher at max height than my old cylinder, which is also fantastic. Very happy I finally did the replacement after 9 years of faithful service by my Aeron.

Perfect fit, works great!

The videos on the Crandall website for determining the right type of cylinder and how to replace it were EXTREMELY valuable. The new cylinder fits perfectly and works great. But, after 12 years the old cylinder was frozen in place, and removing it from the chair required some real muscle. It took two of us, some WD-40, and a 3' steel pipe slid over the end of a pipe wrench to remove it. Worth the effort!

Fits perfectly in my Classic

Fits perfectly, like a new chair. I will say that removing the old one from the chair was a chore, took about an hour and a half and a lot of sweat. If yours is stuck, I recommend spraying it with WD 40 and letting it sit overnight and mark a vertical line on it with a magic marker to see if it moves. I ended up hitting the pipe wrench with a small sledgehammer and once it moved, I changed direction and worked it loose, back and forth. At one point I removed the 5 star base, I held the chair upside down over the stand and pillow I had it sitting on while I worked on it, by holding the cylinder and beat on it with the sledge and the cylinder came out about 1/4 inch. Then back and forth, back and forth and eventually it came out.

Will My Seat Height Change?

Due to the variety of chair models, gas cylinders, and bases, we guarantee a compatible fit for your selected chair. However, the seat height adjustment range may differ slightly from your current cylinder.

What Size Cylinder Should I Choose?

We recommend a standard height gas cylinder for most chairs used with a standard desk height.

For standing desks or elevated surfaces, an extended (tall) gas cylinder is suggested.

A stool kit, which includes a foot ring, can be added to the extended height gas cylinder for extra comfort when sitting in a raised position.

How Do I Install My Casters?

We recommend using a pipe wrench (the larger, the better) to remove the current gas cylinder from your chair. Once it's removed, the new cylinder can be easily installed.

Please note that chairs with top-activated mechanisms may have set screws that need to be adjusted for proper cylinder function.

For side-activated cylinders, you may need to either attach a cable to the cylinder or ensure the lever is aligned correctly. However, our newly designed cone cylinder for the V2 Leap chair installs without any special instructions.
