Leap Headrest Updates

Update 1: 07/18/2024
With the final prototype complete and design approval secured, we are excited to announce the product and move forward with the tooling phase. We anticipate the final production parts to be ready in several months.

Update 2: 11/01/2024
Tooling is underway, and we expect the first test runs off the tool soon. Pads are in transit, fabric templates are prepared, and we’re upholstering as many headrest pads in our Open House and BioKnit materials as possible to ensure prompt shipping once production components arrive. Our goal is to have these available for sale before year’s end (fingers crossed).

Will the Headrest Fit All Leap Chairs?

The headrest is designed to fit all Version 2 (V2) Steelcase Leap chairs and has been successfully tested on chairs with black, platinum, and polished aluminum frames.

Please note, this headrest is currently not compatible with V1 Leap or Leap Plus chairs.

What Fabrics Will be Available on the Headrest?

When purchasing directly from Atlas, you can choose from their standard black fabric and vegan leather options.

Buying from Crandall Office Furniture gives you access to our full range of upholstery options—including Open House, BioKnit, BioKnit Diamond, 3D BioKnit, Vinyl, Brisa, and Leather—to perfectly match your remanufactured Leap chair.

We are also exploring the possibility of offering Steelcase fabrics to match OEM seating, though availability is not yet confirmed.

How Does the Headrest Install?

The headrest is designed for easy, toolless installation. It hooks over the back of the chair, snaps onto the ribbon back support, and clips securely into place. Detailed installation instructions will be provided when final production parts are available.
