How to Identify the Gas Cylinder Type in Your Leap Chair

How to Identify the Gas Cylinder Type in Your Leap Chair

Ryan Snyder |

In today’s blog, we’ll guide you through the process of identifying the type of gas cylinder in your Leap Chair. Let’s get started!

Tools You’ll Need:

Flathead Screwdriver: Approximately 8 to 10 inches in length.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Prepare the Chair:

•Pull the seat to its forward position by using the seat depth lever. This will make it easier to access the cylinder.

2. Remove the Seat:

•Spin the chair around to access the back. Insert the flathead screwdriver behind the seat to locate the white clip.

•Press up on the clip to release it. This action will allow the seat to slide off. For a closer view, you’ll see the tab you need to press on.

3. Examine the Cylinder Housing:

•With the seat removed, look into the cylinder housing (the hole where the seat was attached). Here’s how you can identify the type of gas cylinder:

Side-Activated Cylinder:

•This type has a lever on the side that you can activate by pushing from the side. It’s often easily identifiable by the side lever mechanism.

Cone Cylinder:

•A cone cylinder will appear different from both side-activated and top-activated cylinders. It has a distinct cone shape and lacks a set screw for an Allen key.

Top-Activated Cylinder:

•Look for a set screw (typically an Allen key screw) in the middle of the cylinder housing. This screw adjusts the top head of the cylinder, allowing the chair to raise and lower.

4. Reattach the Seat:

•Align the glides on the seat with the glides on the chair base. Insert the seat back onto the chair, ensuring everything is securely in place.

Final Tips:

•Ensure you have the correct type of screwdriver and tools for the job to avoid damaging the chair.

•If you encounter any difficulty or the seat feels stuck, make sure to double-check the alignment and clip positions.
