May As Well Be a New Chair

Twice a year, the neighbors set out unwanted furniture for disposal. Three houses down, I was shocked to see an unwanted Leap V2. I snagged it for inspection. It was an old one with silicone armrests, a tear on its blue print seat, and a permanent wrinkle in the back. The foam was thin on both. But it was fully functional. Off to Crandall for a full reupholster service with Bioknit fabric, plus the upgraded pad in the back, in the Pebble color. It arrived after a short wait - the seat, the back, and a return label in a box. Since I had built a previous Crandall refurb, I was confident I could swap old for new. The seat back pulled up fairly easily - it fits onto five sturdy clips. The next step was the hardest - getting the chair to let go of the bottom of the back cushion, where it fits into a "J channel". I spent a good 15 minutes trying to free it. If I do it again, I'll tip the chair over so I can better see what I'm doing. You need to both push the J channel apart and pull the seat bottom out at the same time. On the other hand, the new back pushed easily into the J channel, and I attached the back to the 5 hooks. On inspection, a gap was visible between the back and the chair. I guessed that I'd missed the lower two of the five hooks, so I pulled it off and put it on again with more attention to the lower hooks. The seat required a few tries with a long screwdriver before I found just the right spot to release the old seat. Since it was old, I applied a bit of silicone lube spray to the front of the seat glides and the two pivot points. It took several tries to engage the new seat onto the glides - you have to hit the right spot without dislodging the glides - and it was done. It looks like a new chair, and the old parts will be on their way to Crandall tomorrow for the refund.

I replaced the seat pad and back on my 2007 Leap2 chair. Wow, what a comfortable chair I have now! The process was easy . I had dreaded the work of replacement but there not much work to replacing it. I just followed a video.

Just got the new cushions and it’s like I have a new chair. It is more comfortable than when I first got the chair. Was also pretty easy to install. Well worth the time and money.

Our upholstery service is a full reupholstery service, not just the sale of new seat and back pads. To maintain our inventory and continue offering this service, we require the original seat and back pads to be returned to us.

A $100 pad return deposit is included with every order. Once the old pads are sent back using the provided prepaid return label, this $100 deposit will be refunded to your original payment method.

Failure to return your original chair pads will result in a void of your upholstery and pad warranty.
