Perfect solution for most V2 Leaps - except mine!

Except yours, why 5 stars then? I have a V2 Leap Plus which by all measurements the back is supposed to be the same size. However it appears since the bolsters area is wider to accomidate the larger seat pan this means the middle bar your suppose to snap this headrest into is roughly 1/2" off from fitting correctly. This can be worked around - I've done it with some high quality larger zip ties - after all that portion is mainly there to make sure the headrest doesn't spring forward.

What I can say - is minus this one thing I wasn't aware would happen (I did keep it, it's not a fault of the headrest or design - if Crandal/atlas decided to build one for my chair I would 110% purchase it). Being a 6'3" guy I was afraid the height wouldn't be enough - it is!!! All the adjustment in this things is terrific at least up to 6'3" and I would imagine should even fit comfortably up to 6'5" with full neck support while leaning back. This has been a game changer for me mid day to relax a few minutes and stretch from working at the PC.

If you have a V2 Leap, quit debating and pick this thing up. The quality matches the Leap and has the expected quality from Atlas. The fabric is terrific and the padding is nice.

If I could pick out a negative the only thing personally for me is I which the pad was shaped a slight bit better to fit my neck and back of head profile, it sometimes seems like there's a "corner" (for lack of a better word) in the pad that I often hit first unstead of a wrap around pillow fill. (Unless I slouch - probably, mainly an adjustment issue.) Buy this!

Fantastic!

Waited a while for this, but it was worth it. Fully adjustable and doesn't snag on my hair. They advise to NOT over tighten the knobs, which is solid advice. This allows the headrest to stay put, but still be adjustable on the fly if needed.

Overrated – Doesn’t Work Well for Taller Users (6'3"+)

I used the Atlas Headrest for about a week before deciding to remove it and return it to Crandall.

On the positive side, the headrest feels very high quality and integrates seamlessly with the Steelcase Leap V2 - it looks and functions like an original part of the chair, which is genuinely impressive.

Unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me. I'm 6'3", and even with the headrest set at its maximum height, it sat directly against my neck when sitting upright. It was too low to support the back of my head properly. In contrast, gaming chairs I’ve used in the past, like the HP Omen Citadel, had much more suitable headrest positioning for someone my height.

Another issue was the constant need for adjustment. I shift positions frequently throughout the day, and switching between upright and reclined postures required loosening and tightening the tension screw to reposition the headrest. If not secured tightly enough, it would move on its own, and having to repeatedly make adjustments became tedious very quickly.

In the end, every time I tried to use it, I ended up with a sore neck. For my posture and daily use, the Leap V2 works better without it.

I also want to mention that I recall someone - possibly a Crandall chat agent - telling me this headrest is suitable for users up to 6'6". Based on my experience, I’d say it definitely won’t work well for anyone over 6'2" unless you're only looking for neck support, not head support.

I had this headrest shipped overseas at my own expense, and now I’m returning it - again at my expense. That’s nearly a $100 loss because it didn’t fit my height as advised. But that’s life, I guess.

Returned for a refund.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Quickly Will My Headrest Ship?

This first batch of headrests is pre-upholstered, boxed, and ready to go - orders will typically ship within 1–3 business days after they're received. (SOLD OUT)

Currently available headrest stock are all made-to-order with chosen upholstery options and will carry a lead time of ~2-3 weeks.

Is There Any Promotion for Previous Customers?

Yes! As a thank-you to our past chair customers, we're offering headrests upholstered in our premium BioKnit fabric at no additional charge during the initial product release. In the future, there will be an up-charge for headrests upholstered in Crandall materials, so now’s a great time to upgrade!

Can I Add This Headrest to a Remanufactured Chair Order?

For this initial launch, the Atlas Leap Headrest is only available as a standalone product. That said, we do plan to offer it as an add-on option with our remanufactured chairs in the near future!

Will the Headrest Fit All Leap Chairs?

The headrest is designed to fit all Version 2 (V2) Steelcase Leap chairs and has been successfully tested on chairs with black, platinum, and polished aluminum frames.

Please note, this headrest is currently not compatible with any variation of the V1 Leap or Leap Plus chairs.

If you are unsure of which model of Leap chair you've got, please contact us here to confirm.

What Fabrics Will be Available on the Headrest?

With this second round of headrests, all colors of BioKnit, BioKnit Diamond, and 3D BioKnit will be available. We're actively working on upholstery patterns for Open House, vinyls, and leathers, and will roll those out as available options once finalized.

The Atlas Lycra material will also be offered (this is the only option when ordering directly through Atlas Headrest). Similar to spandex, Lycra is a thin, stretchy fabric known for its flexibility and smooth, snug feel. Compared to our BioKnit, Lycra is noticeably thinner, more elastic, and has a smoother, less textured surface.

How Does the Headrest Install?

The headrest is designed for easy, toolless installation. It hooks over the back of the chair, snaps onto the ribbon back support, and clips securely into place. We have a full installation video below:

Where Can I Buy the Atlas Leap Headrest?

The headrest will be available exclusively from Atlas Headrest and Crandall Office Furniture.

Will This Affect My Chair Warranty?

Adding any aftermarket component can result in the denial of a warranty claim from the original manufacturer. However, it does not impact any warranty provided and held by Crandall Office Furniture.
