It Works!

With the help of a Crandall online video, installation was easy. It took less than ten minutes. And the chair no longer sinks into the west as I sit on it. Wonderful.

My Aeron is now my most favorite barstool.

Just kidding. The long stroke replacement cylinder made the Aeron taller to fit my new counter-height desk. It is also tall enough to serve well as the most perfect barstool. The foot-ring completes the conversion. Highly recommended if you have the need.

The parts kit got here overnight once they were shipped. I did have some anxiety about knocking the old cylinder loose. A $25, 24" pipe wrench made this entirely anticlimatic and easy.

Reverse stool conversion

We used this part—and the superb videos—to convert an Aeron stool to a chair. With a little wd40 and some time we have a chair that looks like it will give another 25 years of service! Bonus that we can reverse the reversal if the need arises. Thanks for investing in great customer support.

Perfect Restoration

Old cylinder would "collapse" when sitting in it, when I shifted positions. The replacement was perfect. Even looks a little nicer with a black rod instead of silver. I turned the chair upside down and spayed a little PB Blaster penetrating oil (automotive product) where the cylinder goes into the bottom of the seat, and let it sit (chair upside down) for about four hours before going at it with a pipe wrench. Penetrating oil did the trick and was fairly easy. Would not budge without the penetrating oil (23 year old chair). Knocking it out from the base was easy. No penetrating oil needed. Will My Seat Height Change?

Due to the variety of chair models, gas cylinders, and bases, we guarantee a compatible fit for your selected chair. However, the seat height adjustment range may differ slightly from your current cylinder.

What Size Cylinder Should I Choose?

We recommend a standard height gas cylinder for most chairs used with a standard desk height.

For standing desks or elevated surfaces, an extended (tall) gas cylinder is suggested.

A stool kit, which includes a foot ring, can be added to the extended height gas cylinder for extra comfort when sitting in a raised position.

How Do I Install My Casters?

We recommend using a pipe wrench (the larger, the better) to remove the current gas cylinder from your chair. Once it's removed, the new cylinder can be easily installed.

Please note that chairs with top-activated mechanisms may have set screws that need to be adjusted for proper cylinder function.

For side-activated cylinders, you may need to either attach a cable to the cylinder or ensure the lever is aligned correctly. However, our newly designed cone cylinder for the V2 Leap chair installs without any special instructions.
